On June 11, a five-member delegation headed by Dato' Huang Chuanfa, Executive Chairman of Malaysia’s UCSI University, paid an official visit to Tianjin University of Science and Technology (TUST). Lu Fuping, President and Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee of TUST, received the guests. Senior staff from the International Exchange Office and the School of Electronic Information and Automation were present at the meeting.

President Lu extended a cordial welcome to Dato' Huang and his entourage. He elaborated on TUST’s history, disciplinary development, talent training systems and international cooperation. He noted that as a core ASEAN member state and an important partner under the Belt and Road Initiative, Malaysia has seen growing economic, trade and people-to-people ties with China. The two countries boast immense potential and bright prospects for cooperation across the higher education sector. Leveraging their respective strengths, the two universities can carry out in-depth practical cooperation in faculty exchanges, joint scientific research, student mobility and joint degree programs. These joint efforts will help elevate academic research and innovation capabilities, improve the quality of international talent cultivation, enhance the global profile of both institutions, and build a solid platform for exchanges and career development for teachers and students from both sides.

Dato' Huang expressed his sincere gratitude for TUST’s warm reception and gave a detailed introduction to UCSI University. He pointed out that China is among Malaysia’s key trading partners, and the number of Chinese students pursuing further studies in Malaysia has been rising steadily. Educational cooperation between the two countries keeps gaining momentum. He hoped this visit would serve as a new milestone for both universities to expand cooperation in faculty and student exchanges, academic seminars and joint research, so as to leverage complementary strengths and achieve win-win results.
